Well here’s a way to give back on a personal and communal level. My friend’s, the Ellis family, have always been good people. They are a special couple who love their friends and family dearly. One person in particular, Tobias Kupfer is a “brotha from another motha” for Nils Ellis. Tobias was a part of the grooms party in their wedding and I had the privelage of meeting Tobias and his family on Lara and Nils matrimonial weekend.
So, it has come to my attention that Tobias was diagnosed with lukemia and will starting chemotherapy this month. This leaves a financial strain on his wonderful wife and children. Nils, being the good friend that he is, has set-up a foundation where you can donate money to Tobia’s family during this time. We all know how stressful money can be during times like these. Hospital bills will be rolling in on top of the fact that their income will be effected significantly because Tobias will obviously not be working while he is getting his treatment. Here’s our chance to help a family in need!! If you can, they will be forever grateful!
To check out Nil’s blog and find out more about the Kupfer family please go to http://squirrelseatbread.com/tobi/index.html
If you would like to donate please go to http://www.giveforward.org/tobiaskupher/
Spread the word and give if you can folks!

Remote Medical Area, also known as RAM is a non-profit organization dedicated to giving medical, dental, and vision services to people without insurance. It started as an organization that went to third-world countries that needed medical care and has no emerged in the United States to help many citizens that don’t have insurance. Wow…if that’s not telling about our society today in America, I don’t know what is. Check out their website to see where you can volunteer to such a noble cause. If you are in need of any services, you can find out where they will be next in the U.S.!

“My idea is to have nothing left. Absolutely nothing.” ”Money is counterproductive – it prevents happiness to come.”
This Austrian millionaire Karl Rabeder has decided to give all his money away. He has an inspirational story that you can read at the Huffington Post.
He’s quite the inspiration!
So this is a great website to go to if you feel like giving across the world. I have used this website twice and it’s so fulfilling to be able to give in a way that is empowering. Kiva.org has a wonderful mission which is to “connect people, through lending, for the sake of alleviating poverty.” Basically, the website is a place where you find all kinds of different people in third world countries trying to start businesses to better their own lives. You get to see a picture of them and their business plan. You also get to see how much money they need to get things started. This is a loan so you can give any amount you want. After giving, you get updates on how business is going. You also get updates on how much of the money you loaned is getting paid back. Once the loan payment is paid, you get to spend that money on another person! It’s so awesome! Click here to check it out!
“Kiva empowers individuals to lend to an entrepreneur across the globe. By combining microfinance with the internet, Kiva is creating a global community of people connected through lending.”

Freerice.com is a website that has been around for about 4 years now and is as relevent as ever. It is a website from the United Nations World Food Program where you can play on the internet and do something meaningful at the same time. Basically, it’s a vocabulary game where on the website, you see the word the screen and then have 4 options of definitions and if you get it right, you will have donated 10 grains of rice to the Food Program! The rice adds up and it’s absolutely free to do! It’s a fun game and a great site! Click here to get started!
Disneyland is giving 1 day pass tickets to people who volunteer 1 day of their time to selected charitable organizations. I just signed up for Meals on Wheels in Los Angeles and waiting to here back! I’m so excited, this makes me want to listen to my Disco Mickey Mouse album that I had when I was little.
Go to http://disneyland.disney.go.com and look up the Give a Day Get a Disney Day Program for more details. P.S. thanks to Kelly for the Facebook posting!
